John Mayer’s track “Gravity” plays in the background.
She’s an innate optimist. When Mayer sings “Oh, twice as much ain’t twice as good”, she undresses her laptop from its cover. She flips it open and types furiously. By then, Mayer continues “Just keep me where the light is”.
She fixes her bun with a pen that reads ‘Rorito Jazy’ on it. And then she orders a burrito. She’s the one picking cues darling. Not you!
She argues with herself on the page. She googles Francesco Yates after listening to the “Sugar” track. She moves her hips thinking of Maya Angelou and enters the Open kitchen where her mom is putting Oggarane.
She blinks profusely and asks her mom ‘Sugar, how you get so fly?’
Her mom smiles at her and continues the cooking. She’s back now with her bum on the chair and continues typing. She’s reminded of Shankar Nag who died young but was a maestro of Kannada Cinema. She quickly searches for this song “Yene KeLu” by S. Janaki and SPB.
“Hello? Is it 26266?”
Yes!
Hi Sanju!
Hi Geetha!
!?.
And then it occurs to her. The Revelation. The Grand Realisation. She now gathers her tragic spirit and listens to “Gaganave baagi” from the Kannada movie Sanju weds Geetha.
She murmurs: The wedding between the sky and the earth is destined but the sky can’t bend.
